Chair in Emerging Technologies 2018
Lithium batteries are ubiquitous, from mobile phones to satellites, however it has taken many years to reach this level of commercial maturity. There are a broad range of next generation batteries which have been demonstrated in laboratory research, but have not yet reached widespread implementation: using a range of sophisticated characterisation tools, Professor Shearing will rapidly accelerate the design, optimisation and deployment of these emerging battery technologies across a range of applications, from consumer electronics, to automotive and grid scale storage.
