PUBLIC EVENT
The Royal Academy of Engineering is holding a public lecture in the Arts Building of the University of Birmingham on Thursday 7 November. The lecture will be given by Professor John Loughhead CB OBE FREng, Industrial Professor of Clean Energy at University of Birmingham, and former Chief Scientific Adviser (BEIS), on "The challenges of net zero".
In the five years since the UK formally committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions, progress in reductions has been matched by continued debate about how to complete the journey. The new Government’s election manifesto included statements about their approach to achieving the aims but many of these are yet to be reflected in formal policies. What are the challenges they will need to address, which can be solved by engineering, and have we the means to deliver solutions?
