RAEng / Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowships 2023
Dr Kaveh Delfanazari aims to harness the unique properties of superconducting quantum circuits and Josephson junctions to develop next-generation chip-scale coherent continuous and pulsed quantum millimetre (mm) waves and terahertz (THz) sources for quantum computing and quantum communication networks. Such advanced quantum technologies require efficient, secure high-speed, high data throughput systems at the mm-waves and THz frequencies.
However, the existing light sources are bulky, expensive, cannot be integrated on a chip to be battery operated, and cannot be manufactured at scale. Through this Fellowship Award, he aims to introduce the advanced series of chip-integrated, scalable, electrically tunable, low-power consumption, energy-efficient, robust coherent light sources from their design, modelling, fabrication, and characterization, to practical applications.
