What does it mean to be a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and how can closer connections between Fellows and Awardees strengthen our community and collective impact?

Join this Academy Insights session to learn about the Academy Fellowship, the Fellowship and Awardee Directorate, and how the Academy is creating new opportunities for Fellows and Awardees to connect, collaborate and contribute to its mission.

The Academy Fellowship comprises around 1,700 of the UK's most accomplished engineers from industry, academia and public service, alongside International Fellows whose expertise and networks help extend the Academy's global impact. You'll gain an overview of the different Fellowship categories, how Fellowship has evolved over the Academy's 50-year history, and the important role it plays in delivering our strategy.

What to expect?

Hosted by Sylvia Hampartumian, Associate Director of Fellowship, Governance and Awards, the session will explore what Fellowship recognises, how engineers are identified, nominated and elected, and the qualities that the Academy values in its Fellows. You'll also hear how the Fellowship continues to evolve through the Fellowship Fit for the Future initiative to better reflect the breadth of modern engineering and foster stronger connections across the engineering community.

The session will highlight opportunities for Fellows and Awardees to engage through events, mentoring, volunteering, policy work, knowledge exchange and other Academy activities. The second half will feature an open Q&A with colleagues from the Fellowship and Awardee Directorate, providing an opportunity to ask questions, share ideas and learn how to become more involved.
