We greatly value bequests at all levels particularly bequests that allow our Trustees to direct funds towards areas of greatest need according to our strategic priorities. However, we understand that you might prefer your legacy to support a particular area of our work. If so, please get in touch, we are always happy to talk to you about how your gift can be used.
Types of legacy gifts
- A pecuniary bequest: A gift of a specific sum of money
- A residuary bequest: A gift of a proportion of your estate
To ensure that we are correctly named in your will, please include the following:
- Charity Name: Royal Academy of Engineering
- Full address: Prince Philip House, 3 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5DG
- Charity Number: 293074
Your solicitor will advise you on the best way to record your intentions. If you wish to make a change to an existing will, a solicitor can also advise on writing a Codicil.
The Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) can provide details of solicitors who have experience in drawing up wills.
Acknowledging your legacy
By letting us know that you have left the Academy a legacy gift, we have the opportunity to recognise and thank you for your support. You will join our Heritage Society and as a member, you will be invited to a special annual gathering at Prince Philip House and be recognised in publications, such as our Impact of Giving donor report. Whether you choose to be named or remain anonymous, we would love to hear about your decision to support the Academy in this incredibly important way.
