Professor Ramesh Ramamoorthy has made seminal contributions to the science and technology of complex correlated oxides using epitaxy as a pathway to create model systems. His pioneering fundamental work on ferroelectrics demonstrated that conducting oxide electrodes eliminate the 30-year problem of polarisation fatigue through control of the electrode-ferroelectric interface. He pioneered the field of magnetoelectric multiferroics. He holds over 80 patents on ferroelectric thin films and devices which are now being commercialised.
