Professor Jianping Wu has made world-leading contributions to the advancement of traffic simulation theory and practice. Professor Wu’s pioneering work in developing a microscopic traffic simulation model in Southampton has fundamentally altered the representation of drivers' behaviour in traffic simulations. His seminal contributions to online traffic simulation and autonomous vehicle testing have significantly alleviated traffic congestion and propelled the growth of the autonomous vehicle industry. He also served as the director of the UK-China Joint ITS Centre, enhancing technical exchanges between the two countries. Currently, he leads the WFEO “Climate Change Mitigation Best Practice” project aiming to tackle global climate challenges.
