Dr Dorothy Okello has achieved exceptional impact within academia, business and the engineering profession, opening engineering technology and careers to a broader section of society in Uganda. As a telecommunications researcher and founder of the Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET), she provides groundbreaking ICT access to women and rural communities. As the first woman to be President of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers, she was instrumental in addressing gender inequality in the profession. Now Dean of Engineering at Makerere University, her engagement initiatives and industry-academia partnerships are transforming student prospects. Combined, her achievements have had substantial impact on the inclusive development of the engineering profession and society more broadly in Uganda and across Africa.
