Professor Alan Partridge is a distinguished engineering leader recognised for pioneering contributions to advanced materials and for resolving major in-service safety issues in aerospace. His work enabled the introduction of novel alloys and coatings, including the powder disc alloy RR1000 and advanced thermal-barrier technologies, directly improving turbine efficiency and safety. At Rolls-Royce he led global materials engineering, resolving safety-critical fleet challenges. As Executive Director of the Science and Technology Facilities Council he secured a range of transformative investments into the UK's large-scale science infrastructure. In his current role as Director of the Defence Materials Centre of Excellence, he is supporting the delivery of new materials capability in support of the UK's defence and security requirements.
