Group Engineering Director, BAE Systems
Gareth Jones is an accomplished aerospace engineer who has led some of the most significant product development programmes for new civil and military aircraft engines in the UK. He was Chief Engineer for the Rolls-Royce LiftSystem, which provides the vertical lift capability to the F35-B Lightning II, during the early phase of flight test and he also led the team to achieve the qualification milestone for initial service release. He subsequently moved to be Chief Engineer of the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine, which powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, overseeing its initial entry into service and leading the development of two upgraded variants. He then progressed into executive engineering leadership roles as the Engineering Director for Rolls-Royce's Defence business globally and most recently as Group Engineering Director at BAE Systems – a role he has held since 2023.
