We are developing and using novel optical imaging techniques to understand the changes that occur to the biomechanics of the cornea after vision correction procedures including refractive surgery, corneal crosslinking treatments and the insertion of implants. Understanding the biomechanics of the cornea is incredibly important to the success of these therapies, as the biomechanics of the cornea govern its specific shape and refractive properties, which contributes to the clarity of our vision. This project is concerned with imaging corneas before and after undergoing these treatments, the outcomes of this work will contribute to improvements to these procedures.
