The programme is open to anyone with a transformative idea that has the potential to make a significant and lasting impact on global climate resilience.
The novel technologies supported by the Green Future Fellowships will:
- be practical and scalable
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- help the UK adapt sustainably to the impacts of climate change.
Innovations at all stages of development are eligible, from basic principles to proof of concept, demonstration, and application.

- Scientists, researchers and innovators at any career stage with an idea for a pioneering climate solution
Who are:
- at a UK-based university, research institute or company
- non-UK based and interested in relocating to the UK.

What’s the application process?
Applications will be assessed through a two-stage application process:
- Stage 1: expression of interest
- Stage 2: invited application
For the expression of interest, applicants will be required to provide information about their proposed research or innovation under the following categories:
- Motivation for applying
- Innovation and novelty
- Position within current ecosystem
- Impact on net zero and climate resilience
- Scalability and potential for adoption
- Plans for commercialisation
- Economic benefits
- Long-term vision and sustainability
Applications will open for expressions of interest on 10 September 2024, with a closing date of 5 November 2024. The full guidance documents will be published when the call opens.
