Selection criteria
All nominees should have the following characteristics:
- Be at the early/mid career stage (i.e. have up to 20 years experience in the relevant field)
- Have an established interest in engineering, research or innovation for international development purposes, or be keen to apply existing work to combat global challenges
- Have the potential to be a future leader in their field.
Frontiers events are completely interdisciplinary and we actively seek and encourage applications from all disciplines and sectors.
We strongly welcome expressions of interest from eligible candidates or nominations from appropriate senior individuals, such as heads of department, Fellows of the Academy or CEOs.
We welcome nominations from both UK-based and international organisations. The Academy is committed to diversity, equality and inclusion, so we actively encourage nominations from all backgrounds. If you think you may need any kind of support to access the symposia, please get in touch.
Application process
If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please follow the link below. Please note that places are limited and competitive, so nomination does not guarantee a place at the next symposium. However, eligible candidates will be collated and considered for future symposia, and a detailed outline of an individual’s suitability will improve their chance of selection.
We aim to make the symposia as inclusive as possible and support people with different access requirements to participate, and will cover costs for reasonable adjustments where we can. For example, this might include covering costs of extra care to replace your usual caring responsibilities, interpretation for users of Sign Language, making sure that a vanue is accessible for wheelchair users, or providing any other resources that will help you take part. This is not an exhaustive list, so if you would like to talk to us about options before you submit your application, please get in touch: [email protected]
