The Bhattacharyya Award is open to all UK universities and colleges, with one submission allowed per institution.
Submissions are welcome from any academic discipline and must showcase exceptional academia-industry collaboration.
Submissions are also welcomed from partnerships involving multiple universities where the research is genuinely collaborative and multi-disciplinary. Projects that focus on sector-wide challenges, not only those within the Academy’s engineering and technology remit, are encouraged.
To qualify, collaborations should:
- Demonstrate Long-Term Partnership: A minimum of five years of active, strategic engagement.
- Showcase Originality and National Importance: Explain why the collaboration is unique and nationally significant.
- Align with Institutional Goals: Provide examples of how the partnership has helped the institution meet its goals.
- Impact Society: Describe the collaboration's benefits for UK society and any broader global impact.
The judging panel will shortlist up to 6 finalists based on these criteria. Finalists will be invited to an awards event in late September/early October 2025, where the winner will be announced.
