The Heritage Society recognises Fellows and friends who have pledged to leave a legacy gift to the Academy in their will. Over the years we have received bequests to help the work of the Academy, from supporting capital projects across the Academy to providing much needed funding for our areas of greatest need.
A substantial bequest from the estate of Herbert Arthur Clements CBE FREng helped grow the recruitment of teacher coordinators in regions of low social mobility, encouraging more diverse young students to study STEM subjects. His children, Caroline Egleston and Nicholas Clements, told us how they felt about their father’s legacy: “Our father believed young people should be encouraged to study what he described as ‘the art of engineering,’ a creative career that can improve so many lives.”
