Professor Wolfgang Marquardt FREng

Former Chair of the Board of Directors (Vorstandsvorsitzender), Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany

Professor Wolfgang Marquardt is a pre-eminent member of the world’s process systems engineering community, having made seminal contributions across the entire spectrum, from product and process design to operations and control, as well as to the underpinning methodologies for process modelling, model-based experimental analysis, and numerical methods.

Until recently, Wolfgang has been the Scientific Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich, one of Germany’s most important research centres. He has also served as Chair of the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat), which advises the German Federal and State Governments on research and education policies.
