Professor Malcolm Macdonald is distinguished through his role in shaping the future of the space sector, both nationally and internationally. As Founding Director of the Scottish Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications, he was instrumental in driving the growth of the Scottish space sector. Nationally he has helped shape the UK Space Agency as a non-executive steering board member. Internationally he has shaped the development of CubeSat applications through the US National Academies of sciences, engineering and medicine.
He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, having won the society’s Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane Medal in 2016.
