Professor David Phoenix’s bio-molecular engineering research on soft matter and its interface with medical devices is advancing drug design and improving thousands of people’s lives through new pulmonary treatments. As Vice Chancellor of London South Bank University he led work with government and engineering employers to develop a new model for workforce development, which is training thousands of engineers and raised £100 million to create the first new technical college in a generation.

He has inspired millions through outreach work including as Deputy Chair of the Science Museum Group, running five national STEM museums, and as a Director of the National Centre for Universities and Business.
