David Quarton FREng

Visiting Professor, University of Bristol; Independent Engineering Consultant, Renewable Energy
David Quarton is a leading light in wind turbine engineering. For wind energy consultancy Garrad Hassan he led a team of around 100 engineers, working for customers worldwide to design twenty multi-megawatt turbines, including a 7MW, 171m diameter offshore turbine - the world’s largest when the prototype was built.
David masterminded the development and commercialisation of the aeroelastic code ‘Bladed’, used throughout the global wind industry as a design tool for onshore and offshore turbines. He chaired the International Electrotechnical Commission Working Group which developed the international design standard for offshore wind turbines. He is a Visiting Professor at Bristol University, active in renewable energy teaching and research.
