Research Chairs and Senior Research Fellowships 2022-23
Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing sectors in artificial intelligence (AI). Healthcare systems are under massive burdens, which have become especially acute and obvious during the recent pandemic. Predictive clinical AI has a key role to play in the two interrelated aims of (i) improving the care of individual patients and (ii) improving how medicines are developed. However, most of the work to date focuses on medical imaging. Non-imaging time-varying data, which are highly complex and acquired from many sensors and systems, are routinely stored throughout the life of a patient. This offers a way of providing a step-change in patient care – a UK priority. This programme aims to build the necessary technologies that underpin the next generation of patient care in both interrelated aims, achieving rapid impact through translation of those tools with industrial partners, GSK.
