Visiting Professor
John is passionate about engineering and the role of engineers in developing sustainable energy systems which will enable us to transition into a low carbon future. He has worked across energy with roles in district heating, decentralised energy, power generation, oil & gas, and energy distribution. As a chief executive, director and thought leader John has delivered complex engineering projects, led businesses, and shared ideas on the future of the energy system. He has written several globally recognised books on the energy transition and presents regularly on the importance of supporting energy policy and investment with sound technical principles. He believes in developing future engineers to succeed and become leaders in their field. As a visiting professor he aims to support UWE in embedding sustainable energy thinking across their programmes, enabling UWE students to become ‘world ready’ employable engineers who place energy use and sustainability at the heart of their professional actions. John is a chartered engineer and fellow of both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Energy Institute. He holds an MBA in Global Energy from Warwick Business School.
