Visiting Professor
Professor Alex Stedmon is a world-leading expert in Human Factors and Applied Psychology. With nearly 30 years of international teaching, research and consultancy experience, he has been engaged at the very highest levels with professional bodies and groups cross-cutting Psychology and Engineering.
Through 2022 to 2023 he was President of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and has worked for many years as an Expert Witness for the courts specialising in driver psychology and behaviour. Alex was Academic Director for internationally recognised Human Factors MSc courses and has also set-up new courses across Engineering and Computer Sciences.
The Academy's Visiting Professors (VP) scheme enhances Engineering teaching and related activities at Cardiff University with a unique Human Factors focus on current and planned UG/PG programmes within the Schools of Psychology, Engineering, and Computer Science and Informatics. This is aimed at widening diversity and inclusivity in higher education. The student experience is being enhanced through active learning with real-world/applied problem solving across a range of industry sectors.
The VP scheme supports student employability, building a sustainable platform providing additional skills required for current and future industry needs and challenges.
