Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management and development consultancy. Everywhere around the world, people’s needs and aspirations are changing, fast. That brings increasing challenges to their clients, as they seek to satisfy their stakeholders, tackle societal issues and deliver their business strategy.
ILP graduates from Mott MacDonald worked together to identify and understand the barriers faced by ethnic minority staff to progress to senior levels within the business and then designed an intervention to address these findings.

The Mott Macdonald team included:
- Jeshika Moonsamy, Mid-career leader (Project Lead)
- Tarisiro Fundira, Early-career leader
- Jen Ross, HR Leader
- Claire Rhodes-James, Senior-career leader

Clare Rhodes James, Business Development Director, Senior-career Leader
The programme has helped me feel comfortable about feeling uncomfortable.
As an inclusive leader, I need to ask open questions and to learn to listen, daily.
I would love our industry to become more confident at trying new ways of solving problems and in seeing how they can work. Each person plays a part in making our industry more visible.
