The students were tasked with building their own minesweeper robot featuring an integrated metal detector. Each team was paired with two engineering undergraduates from the University of Manchester who acted as mentors to the students.
The competition involved the teams designing and developing their robots over a few weeks with guidance and mentoring. They then exhibited their robots to complete challenges in front of an expert panel.
