Ventilator-associated pneumonia is the deadliest and common ICU acquired infection in the world, our solution VAPCare can prevent this. Humans possess a natural mechanism for managing secretions by swallowing them, recognizing that our lungs are ill-equipped to handle secretions without the risk of infection or damage.

Vapcare leverages this concept of biomimicry to create an artificial swallowing and disposal mechanism. This globally patented device combines several innovative elements, including newly designed sensors to detect the presence or absence of secretions, a unique oral cavity rinsing technique, and AI-driven timing control, resulting in comprehensive secretion and oral hygiene management.

The foundation of VapCare's science aligns with the recommendations of the CDC, emphasizing the significant reduction in the risk of acquiring VAP/VAE through good oral hygiene and secretion management. VapCare detects and eliminates secretions from the oral, oropharyngeal, and subglottic regions of the airway, adhering to pressure values endorsed by the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) and timing governed by sensors and historical data. Additionally, VapCare employs a peristaltic pump and micro-hole technology for oral lavage, utilizing antiseptic liquid to ensure optimal hygiene.

There have been 5 clinical trials completed to prove the safety and efficacy of VAPCare. 

• a. The first one is a randomized controlled trial of VAPCare in the medical ICU of Narayana Health Bangalore (a JCI-accredited hospital, following US standard of care) found a significant reduction of VAP (12% in the control vs. 2% in the Vapcare group) and an average cost reduction of 300 USD per patient in 126 patient study.
• b. A randomized controlled trial by NIMHANS found a significant reduction in CPIS and LUS.
