David García (Colombia) - Bagcycle
David, born in Colombia, felt from his childhood an interest on mechanisms and was always disassembling everything to understand how it worked and how to build it differently.
Some years later he studied for a technological degree in industrial design followed by becoming a mechanical engineer. After getting many recognitions while working in manufacturing companies in areas related to design, metalworking, green automation, and sustainability, he got a Business bachelor's degree and founded Bagcycle.org; starting his most exciting adventure as an entrepreneur working with purpose.
The positive impact is becoming wider, while important organizations such as the Royal Academy of Engineering are supporting his journey. Fighting plastic pollution and social inequalities has become easy just by Bagcycling.
Bagcycle is made from recycled plastic from bottles and bags, preventing 7 kg plastic per unit from becoming trash. Its unique design, is foldable enough to be carried in a bag pack.
Bagcycle works hand-by-hand with a network of recyclers from the most vulnerable communities recovering what is considered waste for others. On the other hand, as a low-cost sustainable means of transportation, it is affordable so that even the lowest-income users have the possibility of moving to work, study, or other activities without generating CO2 emissions while decongesting the roads. He decided to balance the three pillars of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic, to solve a big problem while solving other at the same time.
I want the world to be more mobile by using recycled plastic" David.
