FarmSense is an innovative, low-cost soil testing solution designed for smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa. It comprises of a handheld hardware sensor, a mobile application, and an AI-based cloud platform that enables farmers to measure key soil characteristics such as pH levels, macronutrients (NPK), electrical conductivity, and organic content.

From this, FarmSense is able to address the issue of low agricultural productivity caused by soil health degradation and nutrient deficiency through offering precise, actionable insights and other supporting digital tools. Farmers thus receive tailored recommendations on fertiliser application and crop management that helps to avoid the guesswork often leading to under, or over, fertilisation, leading to an increase in agricultural productivity and yield.
