PUBLIC EVENT
The annual Hinton Lecture is the Academy's most prestigious lecture and a highlight in the engineering calendar.
This year we were delighted to welcome Thomas Thune Andersen, Chairperson Ørsted, Lloyd's Register Group, Lloyd's Foundation and VKR Holding to deliver his keynote address: ‘The winds of change: engineering a greener future.’
Through the story of Ørsted’s pivot from black to green energy, this lecture highlighted how a shared vision with social purpose, a shift in mindset and a systemic approach to engineering can create a more sustainable world.
As Thomas says, “In an ever-changing world, engineering plays a critical role in tackling society’s greatest challenges. Using new approaches and diversity of thought, engineers can change the world we live in for the better.”
The event included a Q&A session chaired by Dr Hayaatun Sillem CBE, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
