We bring together key supporters of the UK’s engineering and deep-tech scaleup ecosystem for a vibrant afternoon of collaboration, inspiration and recognition. At this invitation-only Demo Day, you will:
- Meet and hear pitches from 15 leaders of pioneering engineering and technology companies.
- Connect with a community of innovators, investors and mentors, as well as a new cohort of Shott Scale Up Accelerator awardees starting their scaleup journey.
- Celebrate the successes of the graduating cohort, who have spent 12 months honing their leadership capabilities and business strategies.

Dr Simon Thomas FREng
Simon Thomas is a founder and the CEO of Paragraf, a pioneering graphene electronic device company. He is a materials engineer whose research, developments and inventions have enabled the world’s first scalable graphene electronics products to be achieved, solving a 15+ year challenge for industry. Simon is a Shott Scale Up Accelerator alumnus and the chair of the steering committee.

Laura Bennett
In her role as Head of Enterprise Hub, Laura has strategic and operational oversight of our UK-based national programmatic activities (Enterprise Fellowships and Shott Scale Up Accelerator) and our alumni follow-on support (Ecosystem and EXPLORE). Laura has substantial experience of designing and delivering incubation and acceleration programmes for tech entrepreneurs, and has advised European and UK regional policymakers on entrepreneurial ecosystem development and entrepreneurship support. Before joining the Academy, Laura led on an EU-funded ecosystem development project in South Yorkshire which involved embedding and co-designing new accelerator programmes to the region. Laura holds a PhD in entrepreneurial ecosystem development from the University of Sheffield.

Dr Daniel Jamieson
Dr Daniel Jamieson founded Biorelate after supporting the successful identification of drug repurposing opportunities with Pfizer in a groundbreaking project to curate the first-ever knowledge graph to represent the pain interactome. Biorelate provides the most advanced data curation in biopharma, specialising in cause-and-effect data insights and contextual data, curated via best-in-class large language models, AI and NLP; Daniel’s focus remains on helping pioneering biopharma companies in their mission to develop life-saving innovations.

Ian Shott CBE FREng
Former Inaugural Chair of the Enterprise Committee and a long-standing Academy Fellow, Ian Shott CBE FREng has played a prominent role in establishing the Enterprise Hub. His track record of helping businesses in the engineering and life science sectors transform their approach and improve their vision, ambition, business models and enterprise value is an invaluable resource.
