The battery technology module consists of four learning resources which should be completed in sequence,
- Introducing battery technologies
- Cell chemistry
- Battery design and performance
- Batteries and energy storage
Use the 'Download all files' option at the bottom of this page to save all the resources on this page.
1. Introducing battery technologies
This Level 2 resource introduces some key considerations for battery technology; selection criteria for batteries, capacity measured in Ah and Wh, and transitioning batteries towards a circular economy that minimises waste.
2. Cell chemistry
This Level 3 resources explores the chemistry and composition of a cell, and the characteristics of common and more novel cell technologies.
3. Battery design and performance
This Level 3 resource investigates the characteristics of combining cells in series, parallel and in arrays when considering battery design.
4. Batteries and energy storage
This Level 3 resource investigates the capabilities and future roles that batteries will play in domestic and national grid storage as the UK transitions towards a net zero carbon economy.
