Industrial Fellowships 2024
In 2018, Dr Yingjun Liu co-founded Porotech in Cambridge, a global leader of microLED system solutions that use customisable and adaptable technology to make LED displays available to everyone. Porotech tackles challenges from microLED displays to photonic computing with scalable manufacturing solutions, ultimately bringing AI-driven augmented reality into the hands of people. Porotech's microLED products are in use in industries such as education, healthcare, entertainment, transportation, and manufacturing, and contribute to global sustainability efforts by creating energy-efficient devices manufactured at scale.
As Chief Technology Officer, Dr Liu built high-performance, multidisciplinary, global teams in production and R&D. The team accelerated product development iterations from six month to one month and has filed over 100 patents. Dr Liu also initiated programmes with strategic partners in the compound semiconductor industry to drive value chain innovation.
This project aims to design and verify a non-destructive metrological platform based on generative AI computer vision algorithms, creating synergy between advanced spectroscopic measurements of electro-optical properties, cutting edge micro-fabrication processes, and state-of-the-art edge computing technology.
