Industrial Fellowships 2024
Dr Kegong Diao is a Researcher in Urban Water Management and is the current leader of the Water Software System group at De Montfort University. His research there mainly focuses on decoding complexities in water infrastructure systems. He uses the outcomes of the research about the systems to develop methods and tools that can automatically generate expert solutions for design, management and control of water infrastructure systems.
This Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowship project will exploit the new smart system era to create an innovative sensing and modelling approach for the next generation of water distribution systems. This will create radical impacts in the water industry for the evolution of water distribution systems modelling, monitoring and control. The project outcomes will contribute to the development of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) for water-use efficiency towards sustainable living in a digital society.
Dr Diao is the conference chair of the 19th Computing and Control for the Water Industry Conference. He serves as the editor of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Engineering Sustainability journal, editor of the International Water Association (IWA) Water Supply journal and was the outstanding reviewer in 2015 for the Water Research journal.
