Anderson Camilo Mesa Oquendo
Anderson Camilo Mesa Oquendo, CEO and co-Founder of COPSUN, is a mechatronics engineer passionate about science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. His love for science began during his teenage years following his participation in the Google Science Fair. Since then, has has continued to explore and develop projects in the field, receiving several forms of recognition, including being named a Distinguished Youth of Medellín by the city's Mayoral Office, and as a Huella Alumni in recognition of his professional impact.
Optimising the performance of solar panels, COPSUN has automated the cleaning and anomaly analysis processes on solar farms through the implementation of robotics. The use of lightweight robots significantly improves efficiency through avoiding energy-losses caused by dirt, dust, or panel failure. Equipped with artificial intelligence, these robots not only clean the solar panels but detect faults in real time, enabling predictive maintenance and reducing operational costs. Water usage is also optimised, allowing for cleaning with minimal water or even dry cleaning, a crucial advantage in making the maintenance of solar panels accessible within water-scarce communities. These robots are made from recycled aluminium and use second-life batteries, with the modular and lightweight design making them easy to transport and install.
