Whether in response to challenge or opportunity, we are the UK government’s trusted port of call for engineering advice. Our convening power amplifies the impact of all that we do.

National Engineering Policy Centre
Much of our thought leadership work falls under the auspices of our National Engineering Policy Centre (NEPC), which gives the profession a unified voice on shared challenges. Through the NEPC we connect policymakers with engineering experts from 43 different UK engineering organisations, together representing half a million engineers, and respond to government calls for authoritative and impartial guidance.
Engineering X
Formed from a groundbreaking partnership with the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, Engineering X is an international collaboration that brings together some of the world’s leading problem-solvers to address the great challenges of our age. The Engineering X community is currently working on five missions:
- Pandemic preparedness
- Safer complex systems
- Safer end of engineered life
- Engineering skills where they are most needed
- Transforming through partnerships

These programmes bring together partners from around the world, building on a network of global alliances to tackle the most pressing engineering, safety and sustainability problems. They aim to develop practical, sustainable and accessible solutions for the engineering profession worldwide.
