The Future Fund will support cross-cutting educational initiatives that promise a stronger future for our profession. We are perfectly equipped to inspire a new generation of engineering professionals and innovators. We have strong links with government on net zero, far reaching convening power, and expertise in the educational programmes through which we can secure a sustainable future.
This is Engineering
In response to the UK’s shortfall of engineers and to the lack of diversity in the profession, the Royal Academy of Engineering launched This is Engineering, a ground-breaking social media campaign to change the public’s perception of engineering and encourage more young people, from all backgrounds, to pursue a career in engineering.
The campaign has proved to be hugely successful, reaching more than 56 million views from our target audience since its launch in 2018.
This is Engineering relies solely on sponsorship from our valued corporate and university partners.
Diversity & Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion is a critical thread that runs through the Academy’s strategy. We are working to create a truly inclusive engineering workforce in the UK, as well as providing D&I excellence and progressive leadership to ensure that D&I best practice is embedded in the Academy’s implementation of all of its other goals.
Our work in driving improvements in diversity and inclusion spans working with industry, higher education and the wider engineering profession.
Supporting this work at the Academy will enable us to create a more diverse and inclusive profession.
Education/Talent and Skills
We are addressing the UK’s engineering skills challenge by working across all phases of education to encourage people from all underrepresented groups to work as technicians and engineers. The generosity of our funders is enabling us to discover engineering talent from all backgrounds, and develop skills needed to build a resilient and diverse engineering profession.
