Will Butler-Adams OBE FREng

Will Butler-Adams is passionate about all things engineering. He has worked for Nissan, ICI, DuPont, and Brompton in areas including product development, R&D, project management, and manufacturing. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.
He joined Brompton in 2002, becoming a director in 2006 and took over as CEO in 2008. Over that period, the company has grown from a £2 million turnover with 27 staff to an estimated £130 million turnover with over 800 staff. It makes about 90,000 bikes a year. Will is a founding trustee of the Education and Employers Taskforce, behind www.inspiringthefuture.org, a charity that looks to get real people from the world of work into schools to bring education to life. He was also a commissioner for the UK Commission for employment and skills, a non-departmental public body responsible for ensuring the UK delivers the appropriate skills to ensure we remain competitive in a global market. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Dyson School of Engineering.
In 2014 Will was made an OBE for services to manufacturing and in 2019 he received an Honorary Doctorate from Imperial College London. He is a fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the City and Guilds institute and the Royal Geographical Society. He is a Freeman of the City of London and a member of the Vintners Company.
