Professor Sohini Kar-Narayan FREng

Professor of Device Materials, University of Cambridge

Professor Sohini Kar-Narayan is internationally renowned for her pioneering research on functional materials for energy, sensing and biomedical applications.

Her research covers novel energy harvesting nanomaterials and microfluidic biosensors, to the additive manufacturing of next-generation flexible electronics. She works with clinicians, surgeons and medical technology companies to engineer smart devices for personalised healthcare. She is a Founding Director of ArtioSense Limited, winner of the 2022 Armourers & Brasiers Venture Prize, which seeks to commercialise a novel force-sensing technology for precision orthopaedic surgery.

She was recognised as one of the top 50 Women in Engineering by the Women’s Engineering Society in 2021.
