Professor Elaine S Oran FREng
Professor of Aerospace Engineering and O’Donnell Foundation Chair, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Texas A&M University, USA
Professor Elaine Oran is an international authority on numerical methods for large-scale computation of physical and engineering systems. Her pioneering work has helped solve complex reactive flow problems, unifying concepts from STEM subjects. She and her associates have applied these techniques to study an incredibly diverse range of phenomena, including supersonic and hypersonic flight; detonations and explosions from microns to supernovae scales; fire safety; and atmospheric and oceanic chemistry and flow. In addition, she has contributed significantly to advancing the engineering profession through her professional activities, outreach, and promoting diversity in STEM professions.
