Professor Andrew Tyrrell is a pioneer in the development and application of biologically inspired hardware to engineering systems. He has led the field of evolutionary and reconfigurable hardware design, applying novel solutions to a wide variety of real-world problems. His worldwide reputation encompasses areas including computer engineering, software, robotics and AI. In addition, he has proved an inspirational leader and manager of staff in the University of York’s School of Physics, Engineering and Technology having set a course that embraces expansion to other engineering areas for students from diverse backgrounds and producing graduates with comprehensive employability skills.
