Dr Vania De Stefani has been responsible for engineering and startup of energy projects and operations worldwide. She is an expert in technical risk and has developed policies that significantly changed new and existing processing plants.

As Process Safety Authority for bp's wells organisation, Vania led the transformation of process safety in the aftermath of the Macondo incident by formulating sound policy and institutionalising change. She currently serves as the CEO of the largest industry-funded cooperative established to respond to major spills globally, supporting the energy, chemical and shipping operations and projects worldwide.

Vania works to promote engineering for women and young professionals. She has received bp Helios and ENI awards, along with other recognitions.
