Dr Debashish Bhattacharjee is a renowned industry leader in Indian manufacturing engineering. He has built new businesses and led major research initiatives in India’s largest steel company, Tata Steel, delivering new products and process technologies with commercial profit. His key achievements are in developing materials technologies for sustainability, healthcare, transportation, and energy-related applications, ranging from primary steel decarbonisation to developing sprayable ceramics for orthopaedic implants. He holds many distinctions, including fellowship of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and government-awarded honour of National Metallurgist. He is currently Professor of Practice at the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras.
