Professor Danail Stoyanov FREng

Professor of Robot Vision, UCL 

Professor Danail Stoyanov is a Professor of Robot Vision at UCL and Director of the Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences. He is an international research leader on surgical AI and robotics, and has pioneered the development and translation of vision algorithms for surgical scene understanding, surgical data science and robot control. As Chief Scientist at Digital Surgery Ltd. (a Medtronic Company), he led the surgical AI technology platform behind the company’s operating room products. In 2019, he also co-founded Odin Vision Ltd, a UCL spin-out, developing medical devices powered by surgical AI for gastroenterology.
