Professor Bassam Izzuddin FREng
Professor of Computational Structural Mechanics, Imperial College London
Professor Bassam Izzuddin is Professor and Head of the Computational Structural Mechanics Group at Imperial College London. He has made outstanding contributions at the three distinct levels of computational mechanics, applied structural engineering research and engineering practice. He has developed the advanced nonlinear structural analysis program ADAPTIC, which he has leveraged to set the international agenda on several fronts, including the response of structures under extreme loading (blast, earthquake, fire), and the assessment of masonry structures. In engineering practice, he advises leading engineering companies and organisations, and is internationally recognised for pioneering simplified methods in structural robustness and blast assessment.
