The quest for commercial fusion power is universally recognised as one of the most exacting that we face as engineers. Extremities of operation, complexity of design and an inability to prototype combine to make it a truly daunting prospect. Chris Waldon has devoted himself to this challenge through a succession of engineering leadership roles within UKAEA at JET and latterly as Chief Engineer and Deputy Director of STEP. Chris combines a track record of engineering innovation delivery and thought leadership with the creativity necessary to face up to this unique challenge which defies all traditional design conventions.
