William Drury is distinguished for outstanding, innovative contributions to electric drives that enabled Control Techniques to become the fourth largest European drives company, subsequently acquired by Emerson.  His concepts enabled it to become a leader in power conversion and speed control and are now used across industry.

His international reputation resulted in him chairing the BIS “UK National Power Electronics Strategy” Group, published in 2011, and the EPSRC “Underpinning Power Electronics” Panel 2012.  William is a highly influential driver of university/industry relations in the UK’s Engineering community. He is passionate about developing engineering skills through the IET E3 Academy and degree accreditation.
