Professor Leroy Gardner FREng

Professor of Structural Engineering, Imperial College London

Leroy Gardner is a distinguished structural engineer; he is highly regarded internationally for his research in structural steelwork, contributions to standardisation and teaching of structural engineering. His research has underpinned design code developments in Europe, the USA and the Far East.

He is the UK’s representative on several international standardisation committees, a natural consequence of his significant national contributions. As Director of Undergraduate Studies, he transformed his department’s student satisfaction score from bottom of Faculty to top in College. His promotion to Professor at the age of 36 was the youngest ever in Civil Engineering at Imperial College.
