Professor Jon Carrotte FREng
Rolls-Royce/RAEng Professor of Aerothermal Technology, Loughborough University
Professor Carrotte has made outstanding contributions to gas-turbine combustor aerothermal technology. He was instrumental in developing the ‘Integrated OGV’ concept, adopted by Rolls-Royce in the Trent XWB and enabling significant fuel burn reduction.
He has created a range of innovative experimental facilities, including a unique electro-pneumatic aeroacoustic rig, allowing identification of a novel acoustically damping cooling system subsequently incorporated into the next generation of Rolls-Royce low emission demonstrator engines. In 2018, Jon became the first Director of the National Centre for Combustion and Aerothermal Technology, the UK primary hub for R&D of low-emissions aero gas turbine combustion systems.
