Professor Vladimir Nikora FREng
Professor and Sixth Century Chair in Environmental Fluid Mechanics, University of Aberdeen
Vladimir Nikora is internationally renowned for his outstanding contributions to environmental fluid mechanics and hydraulic engineering, particularly in areas of open-channel turbulence, hydraulic resistance, sediment transport, ecohydraulics, and experimental methods.
He is distinguished for developing and establishing new engineering capabilities in hydraulics including a generalised framework for rough-bed turbulent flows known as the double-averaging methodology, in-situ devices for measurements of cohesive and non-cohesive sediment erosion and transport, and advanced engineering techniques for hydraulic data handling and interpretation.
