Professor Jian Kang FREng
Professor of Acoustics, University College London
Professor Kang is distinguished for his world-leading innovation and practice in environmental and building acoustics, contributing to engineering quieter, safer, more comfortable and sustainable sonic environments. His research, with over 800 publications, has led to widely-used engineering solutions, from underground station evacuation PA-systems to urban soundscape design models.
His pioneering inventions include noise reduction windows that allow natural ventilation and daylight. He is a leading consulting engineer, with over 90 projects worldwide including the Hong Kong airport underground system. He has made influential contributions to environmental noise engineering policies and standards, notably by chairing the European Acoustics Association Noise Committee.
