Professor Zhenya Liu FREng

Professor Liu Zhenya is an expert in energy and electric power technologies and a leader in areas of ultra-high-voltage power grid and global energy interconnection. He has served as Chairman and President of State Grid Corporation of China, inaugurated and organised research on ultra-high-voltage technologies, and led research and development on related equipment and engineering application in the whole process.

He actively promotes the establishment of global energy interconnection, which provides an effective solution to combating global challenges, such as climate change, environmental pollution and energy resource constraints, and has been brought into the framework of the 2030 sustainable development agenda of the United Nations.

He has received two China State Science and Technology Grand Awards. He is the author of many learned society publications, including several books of which Ultra-high Voltage AC & DC Grid and Global Energy Interconnection have been published in Chinese, English and Russian and received good reviews.
